We allowed ourselves to descend into the depths of of our sonnets today, testing how best to speak them; later, when we expressed them as extended conversation, I was struck by how poetry is an expression of life. It seems when the extras we use in prose are dropped, and the words are stripped down to only those which are most meaningful, simple beauty and significance emerges.

Your blog trigered a memory of the chit-chat I had yesterday with a Chinese visitor to the Appalachian world. We discussed the Great Wall of China and the seven wonders of the world. Poetry is a wonder of words. When something is built to last it must be meaningful toall wgo hear it to last.
